Colegio OR1. Oncoimmunology. 2015 Mar 19;5(3):e1014774. eCollection 2016.
Tumor-associated macrophages have been associated with a poor prognosis in most types of tumors. However, tumor-derived signals that activate macrophages have not been well defined. We review our recent finding that tumor-derived lactic acid is necessary and sufficient to polarize tumor-associated macrophages to a tumor-promoting state.
2.Effects of Omega-3 Fatty Acids Supplement on Antioxidant Enzymes Activity in Type 2 Diabetic Patients.
BACKGROUND: Diabetes is a major cause of death. Oxidative stress mainly caused by hyperglycemia is the primary reason of related complications. Omega-3 fatty acids are prescribed in diabetes but the effect on antioxidant defense is controversial. This study investigated effects of omega-3 supplementation on antioxidant enzymes activity in type 2 diabetic patients.
